The Ministry awarded the design-build-and-commission contract to ICC Energy in May 2020, at a value of 32 billion Syrian Pounds. Work began a week later, and the substation reached final successful commissioning after exact 24 months. The finished substation steps power down from 400 kV to 230 kV through two 250 MVA transformers, backed by new high-voltage switchgear, protection and SCADA systems, and rehabilitated legacy equipment on site.
